VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the technology that integrates Telephony with the Internet. It uses the internet as transmission medium of voice data for telecommunication.
The UPLB VoIP Project aims to cut millions of pesos paid for telephone bills every year by replacing the currently used traditional phones by VoIP phones. VoIP phones do not need subscription from private telephone companies because the service is rendered by the UPLB’s private VoIP server.
Currently there are more than 200 VoIP phones already installed among the different departments/units of the university and there are still more VoIP phones being deployed.
