The following procedures will be strictly enforced to uphold the UPLB network integrity and safeguard it from infection of malicious software usually acquired from accessing porn sites.

 

1. First Offense: This is defined as a conscious and deliberate act of accessing forbidden web content as recorded in the network logs.

For the next 24 hours/1 work day, the Systems Admin Team will observe the web surfing patterns of the office since initial detection of access violation.
Documentation – Screenshots, Links, Time/Duration of access will be recorded and put into a report format.
We will block websites at the Proxy Server level to disable access of detected sites from the entire UPLB Network
For UPLB employees, we will call the Director/OIC of the office concerned to inform/remind faculty and staff that accesses to pornographic sites are forbidden.
For UPLB students, we will be sending an email informing them of their offense. If the email remained unopened for three days, we will deactivate their LDAP account. They have to reactivate it in our office.

 

2. Second Offense: Assuming that the information dissemination is done by the authorities of the office to their constituents, the ITC will impose stricter policies which includes:

Monitoring – For the next 48 hours/2 work days after the 2nd detection of violation, the Systems Admin Team will observe the web surfing patterns of the office since initial detection of access of adult/porn sites.
Documentation – Screenshots, Links, Time/Duration of access will be recorded and put into a report format.
Sending a Formal Letter informing the Director of the office concerned of the situation with name of websites and date/duration of access.
Blocking Internet Access of Node used for Violation for the next 7 days, the computer used to access porn sites will be blocked from accessing the internet.

 

3. Third Offense: If offender(s) uses different/multiple PCs in accessing forbidden content after series of warnings from both ITC and the OICs, the ITC will be forced to implement these disciplinary measures:

Compilation of Screenshots/ Documentation Compilation of new information to previous report for records and survey purposes.
Disconnecting Internet Access of Router of the office concerned with/without informing them for 72 hours/3 workdays.
Sending Formal Letter with a Copy of Compiled Report to the Director/OIC of the office concerned within 72 hours of blocking router from internet access.
Installation of monitoring software in the entire network to manage and remote control computer units to prevent future violations.
